So far this year, I’ve been able to “sell” books, CD’s and DVD’s on half.com, which has been far easier than ebay (I know both are under the same corporate parent). The only hiccup has been an extremely stupid JD/MA student @ University of Arizona (Class of 2009!) who bought a book and threw a hissy fit because it turned out to be a teacher’s edition. Dumbass! Check the ISBN! So I would be very wary of working with a female lawyer in the future who graduated from Arizona (and one who flaunts her MA from the Latin American department). She does not know how to read. And her sheer stupidity has me thinking McCain is off my list of viable presidential candidate, who would join Romney (due to his Michigan roots, which is right next to Canada, among other shortcomings).
I put sell above in quotations since the items are so far below what I actually paid for them. Someone asked me if I was worried about paying taxes on this. No way! If I actually tallied up the transactions as a real business, this is a terrible business, with net margin running close to -90%. But as an exercise in getting rid of stuff and possibly doing my bit to save the environment, it seems worthwhile to keep at it for a few more weeks until the sales stop…most of the DVD’s I listed sold really fast while books are languishing. If I had a bigger DVD collection instead of books, I would have gotten rid of my unwanted stuff faster.
And how sucky is eBay with their fees? I only started using eBay fairly recently to unload some junk I couldn’t list on half.com but the increase in fees is enormous. I have a feeling I won’t be listing any items on eBay for a long time (besides the fact that I don’t have any new, unwanted stuff lying around).

Very informative post. Thanks for that. How would you like to discuss business related topics on the all new business forum. So many members could gain knowledge from your business experiences and advice.
Please think it over.
Thanks,

I wrote an interesting post on my blog about my experience on this hot topic that has upset the whole ebay community… It is at the following url:
